Capital City/Lake Murray Country is celebrating 40 years of accomplishments

“Capital City/Lake Murray Country gained strong national media attention,“ said CEO Miriam Atria.

In 2021, the Taste of Lake Murray became a qualifying event for the World Food Championship. 7 chefs from local restaurants will be in the World Food Championship in Dallas in November.

The marketing investment for the year was $681,047 with an estimated marketing value of $168,625,272. In addition, over 162 articles were published about the region.

CCLMC hosted the Major League Fishing Cup (85+ anglers), Oakley Big Bass Tour (1567+ anglers), National Collegiate Championship (380 anglers) and FLW ‘s Top Professional Circuit (150+ anglers).

“CCLMC has provided over 115 hours of TV exposure through filmed shows on history, fishing, food and outdoor recreation.

Awards were presented to Adam Huneau with Alodia’s Cucina Italiana, Michael Mayo with Palmetto Outdoor Center, Scott Sawyer with the City of Newberry and Scott Middleton received “Tourism Advocate of the Year Awards.”

Dean Sinatra, with American Land Holdings, was named Partner of the Year and Randy Walston was recognized for his years of serrvice on the board.

Beth Wilhide received an award recognizing Scott Wilhide for his volunteer efforts. Scott passed away in March.
