Multiple criminals brought to justice

Lexington County’s 11th Judicial Circuit last week carried out 3 convictions.

Andrew Blake Stacy, 25, was sentenced to 10 years for his role in an armed robbery and trafficking methamphetamine in Lexington County.

Tyrese Dashawn Johnson, 21, was sentenced to 15 years for 2 counts of burglary 2nd degree – violent in Lexington and Saluda counties. Johnson was also sentenced concurrently to 13 years for his role in an armed robbery and 10 years on an escape charge.

Robert Lewis Beard, II, 40, was sentenced concurrently to 30 years for criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the 1st degree and 20 years for 2 counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the 2nd degree for the sexual abuse of 3 minors in Edgefield, Saluda, Aiken, and Spartanburg counties.

1 arrested, 1 sought in weekend shooting

Lexington County deputies have arrested 1 man and are searching for a 2nd man in connection to a shooting at a West Columbia apartment complex Saturday.

Montel Hakim Reese-Green, 22, is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to arrest warrants.

Reese-Green and another unidentified man shot someone multiple times in the lower body while they were in a Riverbend Apartments parking lot, Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.

The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Deputies located Reese-Green walking in the apartment complex a short time after the shooting, according to Koon.

Investigators arrested Reese-Green without incident and transported him to the Lexington County Detention Center. He’s being there held after a magistrate judge denied him bond.

Man charged in officer shootings

Agents of the SC Law Enforcement Division charged man in connection with an Aug. 9 officer involved shooting incident in Lexington County.

2 deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department were shot.

Albertus David Lewis, 27, was charged with 2 counts of attempted murder.

SLED investigated the case at the request of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

SLED’s investigation into the officer involved shooting incident is ongoing, and no other information on the case will be released at this time.

The case will be prosecuted by the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Former county correctional officer arrested

A former correctional officer at the Lexington County Detention Center has been charged with malicious injury to property for her alleged role in damaging a woman’s car and home in June.

Dominique Simone Morton, 28, is charged with 2 counts of malicious injury to personal property, according to arrest warrants.

Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said Morton submitted a letter of resignation to him June 24. She was hired as a correctional officer in January.

Morton, a Columbia resident, was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center Thursday morning after turning herself in to SLED agents. She was released on her own recognizance.

Repeat drug offender gets 10 years

John Francis Donohue, 40, of Lexington, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison last week.

Donohue plead guilty to being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, and to distribution of and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Donohue was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition based upon prior convictions for criminal domestic violence and drug-related crimes.

He was previously convicted of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine in Lexington County, shoplifting, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and distribution of methamphetamine.

Donohue was on probation when deputies arrested him on the outstanding warrants and found him in possession of three firearms and assorted ammunition in June 2018.

Deputies arrest man, woman on drug charges

Lexington County narcotics agents arrested a man and a woman after patrol deputies detected drug activity at a Gaston mobile home.

Derrick Lavern Johnson, 33, and Maritza Fuentes Sanchez, 22, are charged with trafficking heroin and meth, distribution of marijuana, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and 3 counts of unlawful conduct toward a child, according to arrest warrants. Johnson is also charged with felon in possession of a firearm.

“Narcotics agents executed a search warrant at a mobile home in the 200 block of Bent Tree Circle Aug. 12,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.

“They found meth, heroin and marijuana along with several digital scales. Agents also seized 3 guns, including 1 that was reported stolen.”

Children were close to and had access to illegal narcotics while under the care of Johnson and Sanchez, which led to the unlawful conduct toward a child charges, according to Koon.

Johnson and Sanchez were arrested at the Bent Tree Circle location and transported to the Lexington County Detention Center. Both have been released after meeting conditions of their bond.
