Spring sports have started in Lexington County, and with so many events going on, there are plenty of athletes leading their teams to wins with explosive performances.
This week’s Athlete of the Week winners represent River Bluff and Dutch Fork and had a strong outing on the lacrosse field as their teams got the season started.

River Bluff’s Jackson Register led his team in points during a win over Dutch Fork.
Register scored five goals in a 14-5 win for the Gators. He had eight shots on goal and also scooped up five ground balls.
The junior has had a great start to the season with a team-high 15 goals in four games. The five goals scored against Dutch Fork set a new career-high. Register has scored at least three goals in every game so far, entering this week.
River Bluff is having a solid start to the year, beginning this week 3-2 and unbeaten against region foes. The team holds wins over Dutch Fork and Spring Valley, who are in the team’s region just for lacrosse.
Dutch Fork’s Grace Tharp earned Athlete of the Week, scoring three goals as the Silver Foxes narrowly beat A.C. Flora 9-8.
Tharp scored three times after getting off five shots on goal. She also led the team in scooped ground balls with six.
The Silver Foxes earned their second win of the season in the game against A.C. Flora. Tharp has been one of the most consistent players on the team this year, sitting second in goals scored with eight through five games. It is Tharp’s third season on the varsity team.
