Red Bank UMC offers concert

The choir at Red Bank United Methodist Church will hold its annual “Our Favorite Anthems” concert this Sunday, August 12 at 4 p.m.; it will feature many familiar gospel songs from the Gaither songbook and other well known tunes, and anthems from the choir’s Sunday morning repertoire. After the music, stick around for homemade ice cream in the Fellowship Hall.

The Iron Men ministry of Lexington Church of God will hold a fundraiser dinner Saturday, August 11, 5-8 p.m. You can enjoy a plate of fried fish, coleslaw, fries, and a drink. The church is on Nazareth Road.

Congratulations to White Knoll High’s Bladimir Ramirez Bahena who, along with students from Gilbert and Lexington High, finished second at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference. The students competed in the TeamWorks category in nationals after winning first place at the state level. The team had to complete a construction project in three days to demonstrate ability to work together. The team scored 882 out of a possible 1,000 points, competing against teams from 39 states.

More new businesses

are coming to Red Bank soon; the Publix shopping center on Platt Springs road isn’t open yet but other tenants will reportedly include a Lee Nails location. The other new strip mall set of stores next to the Waffle House on South Lake Drive will include a pawn shop. Watch for more to come.
