Gilbert Boy Scout Pack 60 will begin its annual service project, “Scouting for Food,” this weekend.

The dens will go to area neighborhoods-Feb. 2 to distribute food contribution bags. They will return to pick up the bagged donations Feb. 9. Donations will go to local charities.

Several scouts from Pack 60 will participate in Scout Sunday Feb. 3. Scouts will help in their local church to hand out bulletins, and do other volunteer duties.

Congratulations to Boy Scout Wilson Oxner, who recently received his Reading Merit Badge by working in the GMS library for four hours.

Girl Scout Troop 1818 composed of Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes and Senior Girl Scouts, is now meeting. The girls are working on their first aid badges and they are also taking orders for cookies. Cookie orders taken now will be delivered the week of February 16, but sales will continue through the second week of March.

For information on GS Troop 1818 and ordering Girl Scout cookies, call Alynda Williamson, 580-1575.

Congratulations to Meredith Price, who was named Miss Gilbert Middle School 2019. Runners up were Jaden Warzyglowa, Madisyn Moorer, Reagan Hendrix, Ariana Markantine, Khara Cox, Savannah Shirley and Sarah Grace Jerkins.

Congratulations to GMS students Mackenzie Head and Joshua Corley, who earned a spot in the Lexington One Middle School Honor Choir. The GMS Warriors 7th and 8th grades and the Honor Choir will sing a LOVE Concert February 5 at 7 pm at the Lexington One Performing Arts Center at Lexington High School. At this performance, a check will be presented to Patty Packs. The teachers of GMS have been raising funds for this charity. Patty Packs helps families at MUSC and in the Columbia hospitals who have very sick babies.

Holly W.I.R.E. members with Mid-Carolina Elextric Co-op will begin their Winter meetings February 4  at 6 pm. The ladies will have a light dinner and plan their fund raisers for 2019. The meeting will be at Union Lutheran Church on US 378. If you are a member of Mid-Carolina, you are encouraged to become a member of Holly W.I.R.E.
