Taylor Ingle (concert)

Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) hosts a benefit concert for Leeza’s Care Connection and the Joy Day Program. Singer-songwriter Taylor Ingle headlines a day of events, including a silent auction and a wine pull. Food trucks will be on site, and beer and wine will be available for purchase. Save Our Water Kickoff

WECO Bottle & Biergarten (626 Meeting St. in West Columbia), Congaree Riverkeeper and SweetWater Brewing Company team up for the Save Our Water kickoff event. Riverkeeper and Sweetwater are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Clean Water Act, and they’ll have clean water actions you can take, along with the traditional raffling off of a kayak at the end of the event series. For every SweetWater Brewing Company beer you purchase, Congaree Riverkeeper gets a donation, and you get a raffle ticket. The event begins at 5 p.m. and is free to attend. “The Cat Behind the Hat” (exhibition)

The Rob Shaw Gallery and Framing hosts this exhibition of art from Dr. Seuss from Aug. 26 to 28. The show features known and unknown works from the life of Theodor Seuss Geisel. “(in)FINITE”

Purple Martin Tour

Head over to Lake Murray for an evening of birdwatching as part of the Purple Martin Tour. Join Wingard’s Naturalist and USCG Captains Zach Steinhauser or Rick Crout for a pontoon tour of the largest purple martin roost in North America, right on Lake Murray. During summer evenings, hundreds of thousands of purple martins travel to the 12-acre Bomb Island to roost. The tour runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and costs $50. The Mighty Kicks

SC Black Pride

SC Black Pride Week kicks off with a reception event at Wet Willie’s (800 Gervais St. in Columbia) on Aug. 26 at 8pm. Adia Victoria (concert)

Modern blues singer Adia Victoria performs at the Columbia Museum of Art (1515 Main St.) on Aug. 26. The show is part of the museum’s More Than Rhythm: A Black Concert Series: “On break from her world tour, Victoria joins host and ethnomusicologist Dr. Birgitta Johnson to discuss her journey as an eclectic 21st-century blues artist before taking the stage with guitarist Mason Hickman.” Their performance also includes original poetry paired with dance interpretations by Columbia dancer Erin Bailey. Main Street Latin Festival

Head over to Main Street in Columbia on Aug. 27 for the annual Main St. Latin Festival: “The purpose of the Main Street Latin Festival is to showcase the culture and vitality of Columbia’s Latin community. This is done by bringing together diverse groups of people to celebrate and share the Latin culture through its foods, arts, dances and music in a fun, family-oriented environment. The streets are filled with the sounds of salsa, merengue, reggaetón and grupero music, folkloric dancers and Latin foods.” The festival begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 10 p.m. It’s free to attend.
