Friday – July 5

Channing Wilson (concert)
The Nashville Nights concert series, which brings fast-rising Music City talent to Lexington, rolls on at Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman St. in Cayce). This week’s performer is Channing Wilson, who brings a full band to play his full-tilt country songs. A local opener starts the show at 6 p.m., followed by a set from your host, Michael Haney. Channing Wilson performs til 9:30 p.m. Be sure to check out the brewery’s food specials, including the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. This show is free to attend. Retro 78 (concert)

Saturday – July 6

Civil War Walking Tour
12,000 Year History Park (1120 Fort Congaree Trl. in Cayce) hosts a Civil War walking tour. Meet up at the Cayce Tennis Center and take a stroll through history. Learn about The Battle of Congaree Creek which was the last fortified position defended by Confederate troops before the capture and destruction of Columbia. Walk the battlefield and visit the earthworks, learn about the strategies and tactics used by both sides as Sherman marched through South Carolina on his way to Columbia. Prettier Than Matt (concert)
Popular local band Prettier Than Matt plays at Savage Craft Ale Works (430 Center St. in West Columbia). The band plays their appealing mix of pop melodies and rock muscle from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. This show is free to attend. Visit facebook.com/savagecraftaleworks for more information.

Eugene Genay Williams (concert)
O’Hara’s Public House (131 E. Main St.) hosts a performance by singer, songwriter and producer Eugene Genay Williams. The multi-talented Williams plays guitar and piano, and he’ll be playing classic R&B all night long. Showtime is 7 p.m., and Williams plays until 10 p.m. This show is free to attend. Game On: Monday Night Murder
The Lexington Main Library (5440 Augusta Rd.) invites amateur sleuths from the Midlands to join their Monday Night Murder event. Snack on cookies and play a game of Unsolved Case Files, which puts you in the shoes of a cold case detective. Can you solve the murder? This event runs from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is free to attend. Tuesday – July 9

Music Bingo
Hazelwood Brewing Company (711 E. Main St.) hosts their weekly Music Bingo night. The game is simple: Your card has 25 squares filled with song titles & artists. The host announces the music round & then starts to play the music. Your job is to listen carefully and cross the songs & artist off your card. Fill out five in a row and that’s bingo. Thursday – July 11

Zoso: The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience
The Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) invites you to get the led out with Zoso: The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience. In addition to pounding out note-perfect covers of hard-rocking classics like “Whole Lotta Love,” “Immigrant Song” and “Stairway To Heaven,” the band dresses the part as well, making for a more authentic experience. Jazz After 5 (concert)
Chayz Lounge (607 Meeting St. in West Columbia) hosts another event in their Jazz After 5 series. This show is called “The Sax Experience,” and saxophonist David Glymph will be center stage, playing hits and classics by Tevin Campbell, Stevie Wonder, Grover Washington, Jr., Marvin Gaye, Toni Braxton, Michael Jackson, Frankie Beverly & Maze and more. Meeting Street Artisan Market
Interactive Arts Park (425 Meeting St. in West Columbia) hosts the Meeting Street Artisan Market. Holiday Lights On The River
Yes, you read that correctly. Saluda Shoals Park (6071 St. Andrews Rd.) is firing up their holiday lights in mid-summer for you and the family. Experience the magic as Saluda Shoals Park comes alive in millions of sparkling lights, and journey through more than two miles of lights featuring colorful, animated light displays of all shapes and sizes! Anime Rave
The New Brookland Tavern (632 Harden St.) hosts an Anime Rave on Friday, July 5. Aiken Music Festival
The Highfields Event Center (118 Gaston Rd.) hosts the Aiken Music Festival on Saturday, July 6. The July edition of this six-concert series features the Southeastern rockers Grits & Greens, who blend in jam and soul influences as well. Ridge Spring Farmer’s Market

First Sunday
On Sunday, July 7, the SC State Museum (301 Gervais St.) invites you to their First Sunday event. On the first Sunday of every month, admission to the museum is $1. For that price, guests can explore four floors of South Carolina art, cultural history, natural history and science/technology, including the Boeing Observatory and the Robert B. Arial Collection of Historical Astronomy located on the fourth floor. For an additional price, guests can enjoy a planetarium show and/or a 4D theater movie. SC Philharmonic Chamber Crawl (concert)
The SC Philharmonic’s annual Chamber Crawl event has become a must-see for classical music fans around the Midlands. The orchestra breaks into five smaller ensembles and plays neighborhood watering holes, and this year they’ve chosen to wrap up their 2023-24 season with a performance at the Columbia Draft Brewing Company (520 Greene St.) featuring a double bass duo of Jonathan Burns and Jonathan Evan.
