Saluda Shoals Jazz Series (concert)
Saluda Shoals Park (5605 Bush River Rd. Columbia) continues their Saluda Shoals Jazz concert series with a performance from Amos Hoffman, an acclaimed Israeli jazz guitarist and oud player who is celebrated as a pioneer in blending Middle Eastern rhythms and melodic themes with modern jazz. The show runs from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and tickets are $12 in advance and $15 the day of the show. Visit icrc.net for more information.

Headin’ Home (concert)
Bill’s Music Shop & Pickin’ Parlor (710 Meeting St. West Columbia) welcomes Headin’ Home. The Bloomingdale, Ga. family band plays classic bluegrass from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is a $15 donation, and food is available from the snack bar. Visit billsmusicshop.com for more information.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 14

KMB Lake Sweep
Keep The Midlands Beautiful (KMB) invites you to help clean up Lake Murray with their Lake Sweep.  Join this effort to remove litter from Lake Murray’s shorelines and islands. Supplies, a sandwich lunch, t-shirt, and prizes will be provided.  Pre-registration is required. This event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is free to attend. Nature Discovery Walk
Head over to Congaree Park (100 National Park Rd. Hopkins) for an educational and health-friendly Nature Discovery Walk. Discover and enjoy the amazing flora and fauna that calls Congaree National Park home. This guided hike is limited to 25 participants and reservations are required, and the walk starts at 9:30 a.m. and lasts approximately two hours. Visit nps.gov/cong for more information.

Let It Grow
The Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College Blvd. Irmo) debuts a staged reading of a new play by Chad Henderson called Let It Grow. The play recently won the Jasper Project Play Right Series, and director Marybeth Gorman Craig leads the cast through the story of PBS gardening show host Mary Lily and a dashing but mysterious author of the scandalous 50 Shades of Stamens novel. David Glymph (concert)

Historically Speaking
The Lexington Main Library (5440 Augusta Rd. Lexington) hosts another edition of the Lexington County Museum’s “Historically Speaking” lecture series. THURSDAY, SEPT. 19

Hen’s Night Out
Grab your best girlfriends and head over to The FARM 1780 (1127 Corley Mill Rd. Lexington) for their September Hen’s Night Out event. All tickets include a cheeseboard, wine and chicken service.  Guests can also visit the flower fields and take pictures as well as fill a souvenir cup with cut-your-own flowers. Under The Sun (concert)
The Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St. Lexington) presents another concert in their Lexington Live series, presented by Lexington Medical Center. This week’s free show features the popular variety band Under The Sun, which plays hits from the ‘90s, ‘00s and today. Showtime is 6:30 p.m., and beer, wine and soft drinks are available for sale. Across the county line

The New Brookland Tavern (632 Harden St. Columbia) welcomes singer/songwriter Logan Crosby on Friday, Sept. 13. Crosby, who first broke through on the TV talent program Claim To Fame, mixes Southern soul music with modern country. Showtime is 7 p.m. and tickets cost $15. The Newberry Opera House (1201 McKibben St. Newberry) invites you to check out their new and improved venue with their Newbery Opera House First Look on Friday, Sept. 13. Are you a fan of horror movies, books or TV shows? Then you’ll want to head over to the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center (1101 Lincoln St. Columbia) for the S.C. Horror Con, which runs Sept. 14-15. In addition to dozens of vendors selling clothes, art, films and other horror-friendly items, there’s a haunted castle tour, cosplay contests, guest appearances by actors from films like Sleepaway Camp and A Nightmare On Elm Street, Part 2 and much more. The Enoree River Winery (1650 Dusty Rd. Newberry) kicks off their annual Unpack The Porch concert series on Sunday, Sept. 15.
