Absentee voting for the Aug. 11 special Cayce City Council District 3 election is open at the Lexington County Voter Registration office at 605 West Main Street, Suite C in Lexington.

Candidates for the seat are Ann Bailey-Robinson, Robin Milton and J Kelly Wuest, according to the SC Election Commission

The term for Council Seat 3 is set to expire on Nov. 2, 2021.

If you want a ballot mailed to you call 803-785-8361 and request an application.

Brookland United Methodist Church plans a ‎Back-2-School Supply Drive and Giveaway from 2 pm - 6 pm August 22 at 541 Meeting Street, West Columbia.

A free backpack with school supplies will be given to the first 500 kids. Kids must be present to get the supplies. There will also be Free KONA Ice for the entire family. It will be a drive through set up.

It’s sponsored by Brookland UMC, 12 Spring Community Church, the West Columbia Police Department and the West Columbia Fire Department. Call (803) 791-1450 with questions.

Did you get stuck in traffic Wednesday, July 22? The Cayce Public Safety Department worked to clear the scene at I-77 and I-26 before noon Wednesday, July 22. Department personnel responded to a FedEx truck on fire. The ramp from I-77 south to I-26 west was shut down for a couple of hours.

A collision on Sunset Blvd. at I-20 in Lexington had traffic slowed or stopped in the area also on July 22. Vehicles involved were removed from the road by Lexington Police officers and Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Division deputies. The collision was caused by a driver disregarding the traffic signal light.
