Vice President Mike Pence will visit a West Columbia company today.

Nephron Pharmaceuticals will host a luncheon as part of a fundraiser in conjunction with President Donald Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign.

Nephron Pharmaceuticals, just outside of Cayce in Lexington County, announced in December 2017 it was giving more than 600 employees a pay increase after Trump’s federal tax cut legislation was passed.

“Every Nephron employee is getting a 5% raise,” said Nephron CEO and President Lou Kennedy at a Dec. 27, 2017 press conference.

Kennedy praised the federal “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” that was passed by the US House and Senate last week, and signed by President Donald Trump Friday. She said the legislation “had a direct impact on our businesses.”

The announcement attracted Gov. Henry McMaster, Sen. Lindsey Graham, Rep. Joe Wilson, SC Treasurer Curtis Loftis, AG Allen Wilson, Sen. Nikki Setzler, Lexington County Council Chairman Todd Cullum, Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin and Lexington Mayor Steve MacDougall.

Many other county and regional business and industry leaders were on hand, with hundreds of cheering Nephron employees.

Pence will speak at the Republican Society Patriot reception at The Citadel in Charleston today. He will receive the Nathan Hale Patriot Award.
