Cooler weather has arrived. October brings to South Carolina a plethora of temperatures. Flips flops today, hoodies and sweatshirts tomorrow.

If you are new to SC, welcome to the state where you can experience all 4 of our seasons in 24 hours.

DISTRICT 5 is partnering with businesses to provide real work shadowing. Ken Loveless, Michael Diaz and Principal Al Gates are helping construction students at the CATES center get real-life job experience.

LOCAL ELECTIONS matter. On Oct. 1 and 22, the District 5 Teacher Forum will host 2 candidate forums. This is an opportunity for voters to ask questions. Candidates will randomly answer community questions sent to http://bit.ly/d5candidateforum.

CONGRATULATIONS to Ruby DeLoach for being awarded the Crooked Creek Art League People’s Choice Award for her oil painting, “Briarpatch Bunny.” Barbara Teusink was awarded the Outstanding Member of the Year.
