A West Columbia man was arrested on four charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors.
The state Attorney General’s Office announced the arrest of Christopher Alan McCurry, 44. The arrest was made by Lexington County Sheriff’s Department investigators working as part of the attorney general’s Internet Crimes against Minors Task Force.
“Investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) which led them to McCurry. Investigators state McCurry possessed files of child sexual abuse material,” a release notes, adding that the Attorney General’s Office and U.S. Secret Service, also members of the task force, helped with the investigation.
McCurry, who was arrested June 16, is charged with four counts of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor, a felony that is punishable by up to 10 years in prison on each count.
The state Attorney General’s Office is set to prosecute the case.
According to the Lexington County Detention Center website, McCurry is still in custody there, with his total bond set at $80,000 ($20,000 per count of sexual exploitation).
