Do you want to learn cybersecurity and IT skills or how to code? There are numerous free and low-cost resources online to explore. Make sure you’ve chosen the right field before spending an arm and a leg or pursuing a formal degree.

CODING

If you’d like to do web or software development there are many online coding programs and boot camps. First check out SC Codes — https://www.sccodes.org/ — a free online learning platform for South Carolina residents. Learn about Ruby, Ruby on Rails, React, Front-end development, Java, and JavaScript programming for free.

CYBERSECURITY AND IT

If you’d like to learn about IT topics including Cybersecurity, check out CyberAces. Visit https://www. cyberaces.org/ to take the free course by SANS. SANS is a world-renowned name in Information Security training of various types. The CyberAces course offers exposure to a few relevant topics and has some hands-on training, too.
