Why can’t girls play ball, too?

Belize starts new softball league

The girls were unhappy.

The boys are playing baseball in Belize’s Toledo District but they couldn’t.

The girls and their mothers met with Pastor Victor Hernandez about softball teams for the girls.

Fortunately, enough softball equipment was mixed in with the baseball equipment that Lexington County sent to Belize to equip 2 girls’ teams.

Now the girls are playing.

Because of their interest, we are collecting more softball equipment.

We received 27 pairs of softball uniform pants last week with bats, balls and gloves.

Some parents want their little ones to play T-Ball.

The mission plane took three boxes of T-Ball equipment to Belize July 9. Thank you, Ben Brantley for the T-Ball donations.

Pastor Victor announced the 1st T-Ball classes will begin in August.

Thanks to Lexington County, Little League is in full swing for boys and girls.

Dozens of boys are actively playing baseball in 5 teams that play every Saturday since May 11.

We are still collecting baseball equipment for 7 schools and churches that have teams.

The Lexington Blowfish baseball team will collect equipment at the ballpark and at their office on Main Street. General Manager Theo Bacot said anyone bringing little league equipment to the Blowfish game Saturday August 3 would get a free general admission ticket.

Team owners Vicki and Bill Shanahan and the Blowfish organization have been partners in bringing baseball to Belize.

We will continue to be collecting equipment as long as equipment is needed to outfit the children who want to play.

Tax deductible cash donations are also needed.

Shipping the baseball equipment to Belize is costly and the teams need to buy fuel to get around the country to play the games.

Donations can be sent to James 1:27 llc a 501(c)(3) ministry, 607 Ashwood Circle, West Columbia, SC 29169.
