A 10-year-old girl died last Tuesday, June 29 in southern Lexington County after a mobile home fire.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said June 30 just before 6 pm the girl died after a mobile home fire in the 200 block of Golden Leaf Lane at approximately 12 pm on June 29.
That is located off US 6 between Pelion and Gaston.
According to Coroner Fisher, Chloe Eve Doby, 10, of Lexington, was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arrival due to injuries she sustained in the fire.
On Tuesday, July 6, Fisher released the results of an autopsy performed on Thursday July 1.
Doby died because of smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning related to the fire at the home.
The incident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
