Lexington County Airport improvements in Pelion will get almost $3 million in federal money.
The county’s contribution is $161,460, the state’s $161,460 and the FAA’s $2,906,280, according to county spokesman Harrison Cahill.
The 2021 Common Use Hangar Development is for improvements to that taxi lane and apron only.
It will allow aircraft to use taxi lanes to go to and from the runway.
The money is not for hangars, Cahill said.
22 tenants occupy hangar space at the airport.
27 pilots are on the waiting list for hangar space.
