Chapin High School point guard McKenzie Lott piles up honors as she piles up points.

At 16 and the youngest daughter of Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott, she is a National Honor Society member, was named to the All-Lexington County Basketball Team and is among the top 24 girls in the SC Hoops Festival Junior Showcase.

This week has been quite revelatory. As I was spring cleaning, I discovered that stuff multiplied, and dust bunnies moved in without permission. My mirror confirmed that I need a haircut. I must have walked into a dimensional time warp, when I saw it is almost June. How did that happen?

good news for graduating seniors. District 5 will hold graduation the 1st week in June at district football stadiums. Graduates will be allowed 4 guests and the ceremonies will be live-streamed.

The lake has reopened, and outdoor trails at the Irmo Chapin Recreation parks are open. Playgrounds are still closed.

The Lexington Library has librarians ready to answer questions by phone or email. Their online re source, Learning Express is a perfect way for test preparation.

For those who love genealogy, the popular online Ancestry.com is accessible. To get the password, call your local library.

The Town of Irmo has posted rules for trash pick up on the town website. All loose debris must be bagged or in containers and loose limbs cannot be wider than 4-inch and longer than 4-feet. Grass, leaves and small hedge trimmings should be bagged in 35-gallon lawn leaf bags and placed on the front of your property. For heavy household items call Tyler Sanitation at (803)626-9000.
