Another reader shot after dawn

I am pleased to report that I now have my first covid-19 vaccination at 10:17 am Feb. 3, at Prisma drive-in site off Bluff Road.

I left home about 9:25 am from our home near I-20 and reached the site at 9:55 am.

It took 22 minutes to get a shot and 15 minutes to see if any side effects. My wife had fast service the day before.

We go back for a 2nd shot Feb. 24.

No appointment is needed.

I was surprised that more people were not in line or backed up to Bluff Road. It’s an efficient and well managed operation.

You negotiate various stations before you’re given the vaccination. Your driver’s license and insurance card are needed and you fill out 2 forms. I hope this helps.

Only those in Phase 1 are eligible. NO more VAMS or DHEC hotlines.

More political plums

I am opposed to House Speaker Jay Lucas’ proposal to add 2 more justices to the SC Supreme Court and its increase in spending. I believe he is motivated more by increasing the number of political plums legislators can give out than improving the quality of justice. What happened to the Republican Party of smaller government?

Immigration disaster

In a matter of weeks, President Joe Biden has rolled back a substantial part of the gains it took years for the Trump Administration to achieve in the fight to stop illegal immigration at our southern border.

His refusal to continue building the border wall and changing President Trump’s asylum policies requiring migrants to wait in Mexico for their court date are formulas for disaster. This will create massive future runs on the border.

The caravans will start to flow again, and America will be under siege by new waves of migrants responding to the Biden Administration’s weak policies on immigration.

These policies also undercut bipartisan immigration solutions.

Democrats should realize – in spite of their intense personal dislike for President Trump – that what President Trump did in securing our border and reforming our asylum laws worked.
