Sept. 14 Touch-A-Truck event at JC's Outdoors

Posted

The Derrick Team, consisting of Hope and Mike Derrick and their daughter, Haleigh McCartha, hosted the “Touch A Truck” event on Saturday, Sept. 14, at JC’s Outdoors in Gilbert located on Shore Road. The event lasted two hours from 10 a.m. until noon.

Hollow Creek Fire Department brought their huge red fire truck to the event. Hollow Creek firemen showed the children how their fire truck worked and many children had their pictures taken in the fire truck. Derrick’s Service Center in Gilbert brought one of their tow trucks. Dominion Energy also brought their bucket truck. There was also a Lexington County EMS ambulance and Lexington County police car.

Parents and grandparents of the children in attendance enjoyed going from truck to truck as much as the children. Canned goods and non-perishable goods were collected to be given to local food banks in the community.
