AROUND LEXINGTON COUNTY

Bill Dukes and son Ryan hosted a pre-opening “yard party” Saturday at their new Oak Grove Fish House restaurant. It’s in the former Vegetable Medley location on Oak Road and offers a homey, casual atmosphere.

Oak Trees are strung with white lights in the front yard, where picnic tables are available for seating. White rocking chairs on the front porch add a comfortable feel.

Among those sampling the delicious menu items were Mary and Jerry Howard, Joanne Dukes, Lou and Bill Kennedy, Carol and Ted McGee, Amy and David King, Elizabeth and Ralph Busby, Jean and Richard McIntyre, Bill Riser, Debbie and Bud Summers, Shirley and Jenry Wessinger, Renée and Marvin Sox, Paulette Crisione, and Coke Floyd.

Being performed again this week at the Village Square Theatre is The Miracle Worker. This classic is the story of Annie Sullivan and her student, the blind and deaf Helen Keller. This relationship is volatile and the acting performances were just superb.

Playing the role of Annie was Kira Nessel and Helen was Helen Cook. The director was Glenn Farr and the producer Janice Holbrook. Call 359-1436 for your weekend reservations. You will be inspired.

Speaking at the Greater Lexington Chamber of Commerce breakfast March 14 was Tina Guerry, our county Register of Deeds. Sponsor was Lexington Mecial Center. Conducting the meeting were Chair Troy Simpson and President Otis Rawl.

The Chamber also

held a ribbing cutting Thursday at the new location of Crescent Financial, 416 W. Main St., Lexington. Owner Gary Deese with his staff, Director of Operations Lisa Taylor, Assistant Director of Operations Amanda Milano, and Administration Assistant Michele Chisholm. Ben Fuller, Shelly Metropol and Chamber President Otis Rawl attended.

LaVie Pregnancy Care Center and local churches are sponsoring a movie, “Unplanned,” March 26 at Regal Pastime Theater. Tickets are free for the pre-screening and possibly still available at www.eventbrite.com/e/unplanned-private-screeninghosted-by-lavie-tickets-58022026443?aff+e bdssbdestsearch .
