Each year our community helps others but corona-virus and social distancing makes it different this year.

A community event that will be held is the 2nd annual Blessing Box fundraiser and Christmas Craft Show Sunday, Nov. 22 noon to 4 at the Hollow Creek Community Center. Organizers are receiving silent auction donations.

Proceeds will go to the Blessing Boxes in our community. If you are a vendor or crafter and want to sell, you will need reservations. For information call 800-873-1617.

COTTON BRANCH FARM Animal Sanctuary, a non-profit farm for abused and neglected animals, held a a day of trick-or-treating fun on the farm for children and adults.

Treat stations were in each pasture. Treats and pumpkins were given to the animals and participants dressed up in their best Halloween costumes. That evening a Haunting at Cotton Branch for adults only was held. Participants toured the farm at night. They met a few goblins, ghosts and monsters then gathered around a fire and told ghost stories.

SPOOKY STORIES AND videos are posted on the Gilbert-Summit Branch Library Facebook page. Miss Angee from the Lexington Main Library read the book, “Bedtime for Monsters” by Ed Vere. Another video to enjoy is “Creepy Carrots” read by Miss Josie from the South Congaree-Pine Ridge Branch Library. These videos and how to make monster crafts can be seen anytime. The Gilbert-Summit Branch Library is open 1 - 4 Monday - Thursday and 10 - noon Saturday. For details call 803-785-5387.
