Mission Lexington has a new director

Mission Lexington now has a new director after long-time director Robin Bowers retired.

Amy Reeves, who has been the director of community outreach for Mission Lexington for the past year and a half, is the new executive director, according to a release from the organization.

This promotion comes to a South Carolina native, Ben Lippen High School and Columbia International University graduate. Reeves has a degree in psychology and theology  and has a wealth of experience in  commercial real estate.

According to the release, Reeves "demonstrated expertise in management, strategic planning, client relations, and has served the community on several non-profit boards, all of which will play a vital part in her new position."

As Reeves takes on Bower's seat of 12 years, she will  guide the non-profit in projects, client relationships as well as further the organization's mission of helping locals through  crisis assistance, food and clothing, and social service support to individuals and families in need.

“I am honored to be part of such a vital organization that serves as a source of hope for so many in our community," Reeves said in the release. "Together, we will work to meet the needs of our neighbors in crisis and ensure that everyone has access to the resources and support they need to thrive.”

According to earlier reporting from the Chronicle, Mission Lexington serves an average of about 7,000 people per year.

“We are thrilled to promote Amy to Executive Director,” Nate Gibson, chair of the Mission Lexington board, said. “The board was really focused on not only, finding an E.D. with the necessary skills and experience, but more importantly, someone who is passionate about our 'who' and 'why' we serve. It became very evident God has been preparing Amy for this for many years."
