Cayce’s Weaver is Officer of the Month

Cayce Public Safety Officer Darwin Weaver was recognized as the Public Safety Officer-of-the-Month by the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce June 25 at the Chamber’s monthly breakfast. It was held at the Cayce United Methodist Church.

Weaver is the Student Resource Officer at Cayce Elementary School. He was photographed with Vaughan Dozier, the award sponsor, Cayce Public Safety Chief Byron Snellgrove, and sponsor West Johnson.

Weaver was praised for his close relationship with students and for going the extra mile to make sure the kids feel safe and have a good relationship with law enforcement.

The South Carolina State Museum has is one of the Top-Rated Tourist Attractions in South Carolina, according to a post included on the City of West Columbia’s website. Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is also included on the list. Are you a member of Riverbanks Zoo and Garden? Did you know they have events planned almost every day this summer, for kids and adults? Some West Columbia elected officials, business owners, and residents made a Columbia weekly newspaper’s “Power List 2019” and “The Next 50” List. They are: Vanessa Driscoll Bialobreski, Phillip Blair, Micah Caskey, Emile DeFelice, Reverend Charles Jackson, Mayor pro tem Tem Miles, Bob Mundy, Mark Plessinger, Coach Dawn Staley, Tommy Stringfellow, and Joe Taylor.

Riverbanks Zoo and Garden CEO Tommy Stringfellow was presented with a resolution from Mayor and Council recognizing the zoo as an invaluable asset to the city, county, and state. Mayor Pro-Tem Tem Miles presented the resolution.
