Court extends voter registration

Are you registered to vote? If not, you now have 10 extra days.SC Attorney General Alan Wilson’s request to extend the deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 6 general election was approved.SC voters now have until October 17 to register. Without a change, you would have needed to register to vote before Sunday, Oct. 7. Thousands of voters in the northeastern part of the state have been driven from their homes by Hurricane Florence flooding. Voter registration offices in some counties are closed or inaccessible due to road closures. The extension was needed because state law requires someone to be registered to vote at least 30 days before Nov. 6. You can register to vote by:

• Going online to www.scvotes.org

• Using the My SCVotes mobile app

• In person at your county voter registration office by 5 p.m. Oct. 17.
