Gilbert-Summit Senior Center crafters made American flag magnets prior to July 4 to give to Meals on Wheels recipients in our community. The magnets were made of wooden craft sticks and were beautiful.

GSSC Director Donna Neel said the members are learning how to use their own computers thanks to Mary McBride, who works at the Gilbert-Summit Library. Twice a month, she gives Introduction to Computers and Laptops classes for the members. Neel tells us the members are enjoying the classes and learning a lot.

Last week, members took a day trip to Livingston Farms “The Shak” and barbecue restaurant in Swansea, had lunch at the monthly Food, Fellowship, and Fun at Beulah United Methodist Church and made crafts. This remainder of the month, members will have health seminars, shopping, games, and J.R. Fennell of the Lexington County Museum will give a presentation on the History of Lexington.

First Baptist Church invites children to attend Vacation Bible School on July 22 through 26, 6-8:45 pm. The church is also collecting school supplies for its annual “Teachers Luncheon” August 16. First Baptist Church has held the luncheon for teachers and staff who work at the Gilbert schools for over 17 years. In addition to school supplies, they are accepting Clorox wipes, Kleenex tissues, and hand sanitizer.

Cherokee Presbyterian Church in Gilbert invites children to attend Expedition to Discovery Vacation Bible School July 21 through July 25, 6-8:30 pm.

Big thank you for the great job Gilbert Scouts Pack 60 did at the annual Peach Festival. The Scouts arrived early a to sell peaches, rode in the parade, helped scoop peach ice cream, hosted the annual Antique Car Show and did more at the festival.

Last weekend Pack 60 enjoyed attending Scout Night at the Blowfish Baseball game. On July 23 the Scouts are planning a water fun day. For more information on Gilbert Pack 60, email gilbertscoutspack60@gmail.com .

Congratulations to new parents Katie and Austin Connelly on the birth of their daughter Ashlyn Joyce Connelly, and to Eddie and Melissa Lundeen on the birth of their son William Patrick Graham Lundeen.
