Details for Lexington County Memorial Day remembrances

Several local groups and churches are hosting Memorial Day commemorations throughout the holiday weekend, which culminates in the annual day set aside to honor those who have died while serving in the U.S. armed forces on Monday, May 29.

Lexington

Caughman-Harman Funeral Home (503 No. Lake Dr.) will hold a Memorial Day service May 29. The event goes from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and refreshments will be served following the service. Call (803) 359-6118 for more info.

West Columbia

Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church (3011 Leaphart Rd.) will host a Memorial Day service at 7 p.m. May 29. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. The public is invited.

South Congaree

Congaree Cares and Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church host their third annual Memorial Day Remembrance at the South Congaree Arena (395 Oak St.) on May 27. Organizational booths open at 3 p.m., with the ceremony starting at 4 p.m. The gospel quartet Soldiers of Faith is scheduled to perform, with various other special guests set to appear.

Leesville

The Memorial Day Remember & Honor event takes place May 29 at the Lake Murray VFW 6740 (95 Rock N Creek Rd.). Col. Jonathan Robinson will be the special guest speaker at the 10 a.m. event, and light refreshments will be available after the program.

Still Waters Baptist Church (374 Delmar Rd.) will have a special Memorial Day Sunday Service on May 28 “to remember those who gave it all.” The 10 a.m. service will honor those who died while serving in the military.

Pelion

The Town of Pelion and the Pelion Ruritan Club will host their annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the town’s Veterans’ Monument (1010 Main St.) at 10 a.m. May 29. All are welcome and invited to attend.

Chapin

The Town of Chapin and the American Legion Post 193 will host a Memorial Day Ceremony at Chapin Town Hall (157 Columbia Ave.). The public is invited to attend the 10 a.m. event.
