Lexington District 1 acted quickly this week.
Monday night, a Lexington High student posted on social media comments that he intended to harm himself and others.
The posts were immediately reported to the district’s tip line.
School officials contacted the Lexington County Sheriff’s department, which immediately investigated, according to Lexington High principal Melissa Rawl.
The student who made the apparent threats is receiving medical treatment as law enforcement continues their investigation.
In a letter to parents, Rawl stated they were taking “an abundance of caution” by having extra officers at the school Tuesday.
In another incident last week, a student sent a note to other students. The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department interviewed the students involved and determined that no threat was made.
