School District 5 plans a 2nd lottery for seats at 2 elementary schools.
The district offered the 1st lottery in May for students reassigned to other schools due to an enrollment freeze.
The new Chapin and Lake Murray elementary schools lottery will be for all other students and families not impacted by the freeze.
“We are able to identify a limited number of available seats at the 2 schools, which will give families an opportunity to participate in an additional lottery,” said Dr. Michael Harris. “If parents are not interested in participating, no action is required and their child will remain in the school they attended or the school they are currently reassigned to.”
The enrollment freeze was enacted at Chapin and Lake Murray elementary schools due to new growth and development in the area.
27 seats were filled in the 1st enrollment lottery. 44% of eligible students chose to remain at their school.
