Don’t celebrate the season too early

Idon’t want to sound like a Scrooge, but I’m avoiding all radio stations playing Christmas music until the week before Christmas. I used to anticipate Christmas music, but since stations start playing it so early, I get tired of hearing them before December 25. I want my tree up late in the season, so I don’t get too tired of looking at the holiday decorations.

How better to celebrate the holidays than to have a candy cane adventure. Santa and elves will be hiding those sweet treats along the Crooked Creek Park trail December 15, 3-3:30 pm. The cost is $2 per child. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for those less fortunate.

Women who are in business can network with other business women at the Women4women Community Gathering December 20 at the Irmo Chamber, 9-10:30 am.

The Irmo Library is looking for new or gently used duffel or book bags for foster children. Drop them off at the Irmo Library.

The need for blood products is urgent. The Ir-mo Library has a blood drive December 20 from 2 to 7 pm.

Congratulations to Springhill’s Dr. Michael Lofton, and Chapin Middle School’s Anna Miller for being awarded the 2019 principals of the year by the SC Association of School Administrators. Keep up the good work!

The Chapin Chamber is collecting winter coats for homeless veterans; sizes medium to 3XL are needed. You can drop them off until December 20, 9-4 pm. Keep our homeless veterans warm in this frigid weather.

“The In Loving Memory Support Group” for parents who have lost a child will hold a candle lighting at the Memorial Garden’s “Circle of Love” Dec 14, 6-7 pm, at Chapin Town Hall. It is open to the public.”
