Fire Chief Rescues Bird

Posted

Flying around his area last month, “The Quail” stopped in Wagener to visit the Fire Department. Fire Chief David Watson was sitting down in the front of one of the fire engines with a box and a pair of scissors. As “The Quail” flew closer, he noticed that Chief Watson was carefully cutting part of the box, which he discovered to be a rodent glue box. Watson was trying to rescue a bird that had inadvertently gotten trapped inside.

Having no luck being able to get the bird unstuck from the box, he called and found out that if he got some cooking oil, which does no harm to the bird, and poured a tiny bit around where the bird was stuck, that it would aid in unsticking it.

Watson got some cooking oil, and the process, though tedious, worked and the bird was finally freed!

“The Quail” appreciated the time and effort that was put into this humane rescue. Others might have thought, “It is just a bird.” It shows that Watson cares about not only serving to help humans with the fire and rescue department, but also about other living creatures.

“The Quail” thanks the chief Watson for his continuing effort in serving the Wagener community and going above and beyond the call of duty.

Until next week, fly safely, my friends ...
