Happy Halloween! It’s the day when ghosts and goblins come out in search of sweet treats. Get in the spooky spirit with your costume and get ready to hand out to the trick or treaters.

Annie Mack at the Lexington Senior Center says she will be celebrating the occasion with a Halloween party for seniors.

The Shepherd’s Center at Lexington United Methodist Church will have a Halloween party at its last lunch program of this session. You may wear your Halloween gear for this special event.

Wellmore had a costume parade of its residents, employees and families last Friday. Children came as witches, policemen, cowboys, hosts, princesses, ballet dancers, and even a bride. It was a most entertaining evening.

There were many events last week.

Women’s NIght Out, sponsored by the Lexington Medical Center foundation, was held Tuesday at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The event supports breast cancer and mammography units.

On hand to greet guests were LMC President Tod Augsberger and Barbara Wilm, vice president of development and community relations. LMC foundation Chair Chip Johnson introduced the keynote speaker, cancer survivor Jennifer Hodges. Many said it was the best program of all!

On the Table conversation event was also on Tuesday, presented by First Community Bank. There were many local leaders there for the round-table lunch to discuss issues in our community and how we can take action to move forward.

Troy Simpson served as moderator of the event. JoAnne Turnquist, president of the Central Carolina Community Foundation attended.

The Lexington Network of Female Executives met on Tuesday to hear Otis Rawl, president of the Greater Lexington Chamber of Commerce speak on what is currently happening in Lexington.

New officers of the group at President Kathy Foster, Vice President Cecilia McLendon, Secretary Beth McCrary, Treasurer Bev Gunter, and Membership Chair Bunny Hagenlocher.

Lexington Sertoma Club hosted its annual Carolina-Clemson Big Thursday Celebration last week, reports Anne Bull. The event raises funds for Sertoma’s charities. Some of those attending were Mayor Steve MacDougall, Mark Hendrix, the Rev. James Quick, Matthew Quinton, former USC players Rick Sanford and Chuck Slaughter, former Clemson players Norman Haynes and Vernie Anthony, Kathy Manes, Hugh Rogers, Charlie and Joe Mayer, Doris Reynolds, Jay Martin, Jim Martin, Dean and Marlene Wheeler, Houston and Holly Jones, Baxter Donaldson, Bob Pauling, Sandra Cheatham, Larry Timbes, Dennis Johns, Steve and Robin Cox, Bill Lesesne, Randy Halfacre, Gary Deese, Betty and Terry Roof, Elouise and John Hiers, Jim McLeod, Dennis Bull, Bunnie and Don Hagenlocher, Ken Jumper, Earl Brown, Don and Martha Prickett, Tyler Helms, and Bryant Herring.

St. Alban’s Episcopal Chruch, 403 Park Rd., Lexington, will celebrate its 45th anniversary Nov. 10, says Elaine Moseley. A reception will follow the 10:30 service. All are invited.

The Veteran’s Parade is Nov. 3 down Main Street, Lexington, at 3 pm.
