Harbison Theatre announces 2024-25 season

Posted

The Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College has long been one of Lexington’s most popular event destinations. Every year, the 400-seat venue hosts a wide array of programming, from rock bands to choral performances to musicals and standup comedians.

Harbison Theatre recently announced its schedule for the remainder of 2024 and the winter and spring of 2025. Here’s a look at some of the wide-ranging talent gracing the Harbison stage over the next eight months.

Fall 2024

Fast-rising country singer-songwriter Cody Webb plays on Sept. 6. Webb, an incisive writer with a unique guitar style and a powerful voice, displays some rock muscle mixed into the country grit on his latest single, “Tin Can.” September also features a reading of “Let It Grow,” a new play by Chad Henderson that recently won The Jasper Play Right Festival.

The remainder of 2024 at the Harbison Theatre consists of a faith-based play called “If You Only Knew…Why I Struggle to Trust God,” a Motown and Elvis revue by popular tribute artist Tony Howard, the remarkable Argentinian dance troupe Malevo, and Americana rock from Billy Bob Thornton & The Boxmasters.

Next up the first of five SC Jazz Masterworks performances, an explosive dose of soul from The War & Treaty, master illusionist Mike Super, an SC Philharmonic program featuring acclaimed pianist Andy Armstrong, and an installment of a concert series called “The Music Is Naked,” featuring stripped-down, acoustic performances from musicians Danielle Howle, Josh Roberts & The Hinges and The Ain’t Sisters.

Winter 2024-25

The Winter season at Harbison Theatre kicks off on Dec. 7 when The Columbia Children’s Theatre performs the classic Dickens tale, “A Christmas Carol.”

This is followed by another stripped-down songwriter showcase featuring host Patrick Davis with Maggie Rose, Gabe Dixon and David Ryan Harris.

Nationally-known gospel singer John Lakin presents “The Gospel Sound” on Feb. 1, followed by the dynamic a cappella pop vocal group Naturally 7, the experimental string ensemble The Barbican Quartet, an epic tribute to the classic musical The Phantom Of The Opera by The Four Phantoms: Bren Barrett, John Cudia, Franc D'Ambrosio, and Ciarán Sheehan, all of whom have played The Phantom onstage.

Beloved funk-rockers Mother’s Finest take the Harbison Theatre stage on March 1, the South Carolina Ballet presents “Romeo & Juliet” on March 7, and comedian Tom Cotter, who has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, brings the laughs on March 21. And don’t miss the MTC Talent Show, featuring students and faculty from Midlands Technical College.

Spring 2025

There are still some unannounced shows at the Harbison Theatre for the spring of 2025, but here are a few that we know about for sure.

On April 4, get ready to sing along to “Sweet Caroline” as “So Good! The Neil Diamond Experience starring Robert Neary” comes to Harbison. The Tams bring a night of beach music classics on April 26, and on May 3, The Columbia Children’s Theatre returns with a production of the adorable tale Pete The Cat, the story of a groovy feline who helps his pal Jimmy conquer the second grade.
