What mothers think about the end of summer:

1. Earlier bedtime

Now that the kids are actually asleep before 10 pm (8 if you’re lucky) you get a little ‘me’ time.

2. School lunches, baby.

For the first time in almost 3 months, someone else will be responsible for feeding your hungry pack

3. Don’t worry about “summer slide” and “brain drain.” Get back to worrying about your kids’ homework and earlier bedtimes.

4. We get the pool to ourselves. What? Yes, it’s still hot outside.

5. We get to be uninterrupted by kids.

Not everything. But some things. Like not having to use your lunch break to shuttle kids from camp to sitter. Or getting out of the grocery store in less than 20 minutes and not sayng “no” 25 times per child.

6. We hang out with other parent-friends at school drop off. If you don’t get to talk to a grown-up, you may forget how to speak in complete sentences.

7. You get to relax in the pick-up line.

You’ll have plenty of time to catch up on your social media feeds or read a book on your cell phone.
