AROUND CAYCE, SPRINGDALE & WEST COLUMBIA

The West Columbia Beautification Foundation presented the Quarterly Appearance Award for the 4th quarter of 2018 to Jarrett’s Jungle, 1621 Sunset Boulevard. Recently, Jarrett’s Jungle added a beautiful pergola to the front of the building, catching commuters and residents’ attention with the color and greenery of the plants and flowers.

Manager Brandon Davis said, “We are excited about being recognized for our efforts and improvements to the nursery and are thrilled about the expansion of our product offerings.”

Jarrett’s Jungle is a locally-owned and operated retail greenhouse and florist that has earned a reputation for quality and service in the Lexington, West Columbia, Irmo, and Columbia areas for over 30 years.

Ann Malpass, organizer of Cayce Cares, presented Mary Isbell, director of God’s Helping Hands with a second donation check this holiday season. The money will help families in Cayce and West Columbia. Cayce Cares has donated $2,500 to God’s Helping Hands this year.

Riverbanks Zoo and Garden released a list of events that includes “Free Fridays.” Every Friday in January and February, residents of Lexington and Richland counties will receive free admission to the zoo and garden. Guests must provide a valid driver’s license, property tax statement, or vehicle registration as proof of residency.

Additional events include the Orchids on the Riverbanks Festival, a Mad Hatter Tea Party, Bagels with Beasts, and multiple garden workshops. More information can be found at www.riverbanks.org .
