Who likes Daylight Saving Time? I don’t. I appreciate the extra hour of daylight, but really hate the lost hour of sleep. What a conundrum!

But that extra hour of daylight will make a difference in the Great American Clean up from March to May 31. Invest in your community and neighborhood and pick up some litter yourself, or organize an army of volunteers to pick up litter in our area. Contact GAC@keepthemidlandsbeautiful.org or call 803-733-1139.

Do you know Irmo’s history? It began as small rural town centered on the CNS Railroad. The two railroad officials’ names, Ire-dell and Mosley make up the name, Irmo. Historian Kenneth Robison will speak at Chapin Library at the Dutch Fork Historical Society meeting March 25 at 6 pm. Attend and learn more history.

The Taste of Lake Murray tickets are now on sale now for the March 28 event at Lexington Medical Center starting at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds support the annual July 4th fireworks on Lake Murray. To purchase tickets, visit lakemurraycountry.com .

A career building and resume skills workshop will be at the Irmo Library March 21 at 6:30. Mock interviews will take place March 28 at 6:30. The Summer Job Fair will be held April 11, 5-8 pm at the Irmo Library. Call 803-798-7880 for information.

Support the District Five Foundation’s annual Golf Tournament Friday, March 29, at Timberlake Country Club in Chapin. For information, visit www.district5foundation.org or contact Mary Kathryne Wadford at marykathryne@district5foundation.org or 803-394-6331.

The Mayor’s Pray Breakfast and Chapin Service Day are coming up. Wayne Atcheson of the Billy Graham Library is the speaker for the prayer breakfast April 5 at 8 am. Service day begins April 6 at 7:30 am. Volunteers will meet at the town hall and then go out to work on specific projects in Chapin. For information, email communications@chapinsc.com or call Nichole Burroughs at 803-345-2444.
