Forbes magazine has named Lake Murray as a top Southeastern vacation destination.

Lake Murray is the only South Carolina location mentioned by the business magazine.

“This is wonderful publicity for our region and it’s a great time for our region to stand out from the rest,” said Miriam Atria, president/CEO of Capital City Lake Murray Country.

Additional destinations on the list included, Dunwoody, GA, Highlands, NC, Birmingham, AL, Shenandoah Valley, VA and Lake Nona, FL.

Capital City/Lake Murray Country is one of the state’s 11 tourism regions promoting tourism in Lexington, Newberry, Richland and Saluda counties.

The Capital City Lake Murray Country visitors center is at 2184 North Lake Drive (SC 6) a half mile north of the dam.
