Legion post installs new commander

American Legion Pelion Post 101 installed its new commander, Mark Bays, at the Town Council meeting. Commander Bays was installed by District 20 Commander David Mills. They also presented a resolution to the Council recognizing American Legion Day September 16, 2020.

Resolution was presented and passed appointing Mayor Frank Shumpert to the Joint Municipal Water and Sewer Commission with Council member Michael Mascio as alternate.

PELION LIBRARY WILL host technology training March 25 at 10 am for ages 18 and up. Registration is required. Preschool story time will be March 25 at 11 am for ages birth to 5 years. North of 50 meets March 24 at 11:15 am for ages 60 and up. April is science month, so seniors are getting a heard start. Participants will try some cool experiments while learning how to use science in their lives. Get connected with engaging programs designed specifically for senior citizens including workshops, crafts, games and much more. Tweens meet March 26 at 6 pm and will be doing yoga with an instructor from Pink Lotus Yoga Center in Lexington. This event is for grades for 4-12. For information, call 803-785-3272.

Pelion Ruritan meets March 26 at 7 pm. The Pelion Ruritan meets club had 13 visitors last meeting and it was good getting involved. Visitors to see so many people are always welcome.

ELIZABETH SOX WAS crowned Little Miss Mallard and Vivian Kenley Brazell won Little Miss Panther in the annual pageant held in February. The pageant is a fundraiser for the Pelion Marching Pride.

PELION SENIOR CENTER will play Frisbee golf March 20, shuffleboard March 23 and 24, and go bowling March 25.

THESE SPORTING EVENTS were scheduled prior to school closings. Pelion High women’s varsity soccer will play Gilbert March 20 at 7 pm. They will play at Gilbert March 24 at 7 pm. The track team will play at Chapin Swansea and Strom Thurmond at Hidden March 25 at 5 pm. The golf team will play Valley March 31 at 4:15 pm. Pelion High will have its spring sports pep rally March 27 at 11 am. Residents on Forts Pond are encouraged to attend a meeting March 26 at 7 pm at Forts Pond Elementary cafeteria.
