Lexington collision kills W. Cola woman

A West Columbia woman died in a two-vehicle collision Aug. 31.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said the woman died in the 2600 block of Mineral Springs Road shortly after 3 pm in the Town of Lexington.

According to Coroner Fisher, Wanda Williams Nichols, 64, of West Columbia was killed when the car she was driving collided with another vehicle. Nichols was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries she sustained in the accident. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Nichols was wearing her seat belt at the time of the collision

The incident remains under investigation by the Town of Lexington Police Department.
