Lexington-Richland Five School District has been named the top school district in the Midlands according to the 2025 Best Schools in America list made by Niche.com.

School-District Five received an "A" ranking based on statistics and opinion from parents and students.

The school district was also ranked as the second best school district in South Carolina, the best place to teach in the state and fourth in South Carolina for school districts with the best teachers. 

"What and incredible honor it is for School District Five to be named the top school distirct in the Midlands," Superintendent Akil E. Ross, Sr. said in the press release. "For all 10 areas to be graded at the 'A' rating (A- to A+) reflects our outstanding performance in academic achievements, student support, extracurricular programs, and outstanding administration and teachers. I am proud of the students, teachers, administrators and families who remain committed to our vision to Love and Grow Our Students."
