FoxAnn Scruggs tells us the 14th annual Spring Heartworm Fundraiser will be held April 6, 6-9 pm, at the Lexington Town Hall. The event raises money for shelter animals in need. The all-volunteer, nonprofit corporation provides medical care, rehab, and housing for shelter animals. The event is free, but bring your checkbook in case you see something in the silent auction that you can’t live without! See you there.

Coming up is the 8th annual Herb Festival at the Lexington County Museum. It’s April 6, 9 am-3 pm, with free admission. There will be plants, baked goods, jams and more you might like to purchase. Proceeds will benefit the sponsoring Herb Bunch scholarship fund.

Congratulations to Lexington residents Ryan Dukes, owner of Oak Grove Fish House, and Matthew Mungo of Mungo Properties for being two of the 20 Outstanding People Under 40 in the Midlands

Wellmore held a fun evening for its residents on March 13. They enjoyed a night of “Down on the Bayou” with decorations of a fishing boat complete with fishermen, nets and equipment resting on a bed of native plants and Spanish moss. The decorations set the theme for a New Orleans menu of beignets, gumbo and jambalaya. The Gilbert High School Jazz Band provided music for the occasion.

Happy birthday to Sarah Biser, Hillary Clark, George Hull, David Kleinfelder, Peggy Moseley, Greg Quina, Rebecca Bigham, Bobby Jones, Cindy Harris, Patricia Rawl, Betty Younginer, Jolene Marchant, Carol Waldo, Sarah Richey, Ryan Carr, Conner Crumpton, Jack Jebaily, Joanna Taylor, William Stone, Emily Cox, Sarah Floyd, Richard Garis, David Graham, Brooks Hamby, Abigail Burnett, Leo Hall, Malane Miller, Sheridan Perry, Lauren Smith, Quinton Strock, Cheryl Brannon, Kevin Gunter, Charles Rice, Connor Schmitz, Jennifer McInnis, and Connor Sharpe.

Don’t forget the Rotary Fest Oyster Roast with great music this Saturday, March 30, 2-10 pm. It takes place at The Grove on Augusta Highway, formerly Harmon’s Tree Farm.
