AROUND CAYCE, SPRINGDALE & WEST COLUMBIA

Carroll Hutchinson was recognized last week at the Cayce-West Columbia Lions Club meeting for having served as a Lion for 40 years. “We’re very grateful for all Lion Carroll has done for this community through his service as a Lion,” said Bill Mooneyhan. He is a fine example of kindness. He holds himself to a high standard, and that is the purpose of our club.”

Andy Thomas recently joined the staff of the Cayce Historical Museum as the Museum Assistant. Originally from Fairfax, he received his undergraduate degree in history from Clemson University and a master’s degree in history, with a focus on the Colonial South, from Winthrop University. He also completed a Museum Management Certification program with the University of South Carolina. The museum invites you to come by soon to see the amazing displays and meet Andy.

Is Your Car Secure? The Cayce Department of Public Safety launched the #MineatNine campaign last year to remind you to secure your car and remove any valuables from plain sight by 9 pm every night.

The Community Outreach Policing Services (C.O.P.S) Unit has three simple tips that should be followed every night: Lock It, Roll It, and Hide It! While this piece of advice may be obvious, the majority of car break-ins are due to unsecured doors or windows.

At 9 pm every night, make sure your doors are Locked, your windows are Rolled Up, and that all your valuables are Hidden or secured inside your residence.

Cayce’s Water Treatment Plant received the SC Area-Wide Optimization Program Award and a 10 years excellence award for receiving the award for 10 years. The goal of AWOP is to maximize public health protection and reduce risk of illness from contaminated water. This award is achieved without capital spending on plant improvements and through maximizing operator expertise.

Congratulations to Cayce’s amazing Water Plant Operators!
