Mayors past and present reflect at Christmas

West Columbia’s new mayor says he is settling into the job. With Christmas upon us last week, Major Tem Miles said he is very appreciative. Miles was elected in November, after former Mayor Bobby Horton retired. Miles said the City of West Columbia is much more than just the elected officials. “I appreciate all of the employees and staff of West Columbia who work so hard,” Miles said. Miles celebrated “all that is Christmas” with his family. “My family, with my mother and father; we will enjoy time together,” said Miles. His family spent time with fellow parishioners, attending Christmas mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Former West Columbia Mayor Bobby Horton will be spending his 1st Christmas for a while without the title of mayor. He said he will enjoy the season. “Christmas is a special time of the year,” said Horton. “It is a time to look back on the year. I’m very thankful for all the support I have received from the people of West Columbia over the years. “We have a very rich community here, and that is apparent during the holidays. I especially want to wish the people of West Columbia, and everyone, a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.”
