Mystery surrounds Vanessa Biery’s death

The cause of Vanessa Brooke Biery’s death has not been confirmed. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said she is waiting on final autopsy results in the Cayce woman’s death. “The pathologist has not given a timeline as to when the results can be expected,” Fisher said. Biery, 43, died April 30. She was the wife of Dr. Adam Lazzarini. After her death, Lazzarini was charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection to the October death of William Player Holland. Holland was shot at Lazzarini’s home at 256 Hunters Mill Dr. in Cayce where Biery died. A memorial service for Biery is scheduled July 14, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel. Lazzarini is a hip surgeon who worked for Lexington Medical Center but resigned in late May. Lazzarini’s medical license was lifted by the S.C. Board of Medical Examiners after he was arrested in early May. Eric Bland, Lazzarini’s attorney, said his client is not a threat to his patients, staff or the public. “He has a clean record and he is well-regarded,” Bland said. Lazzarini was also charged with obstructing justice in relation to the Holland shooting.
