Pedestrian killed

A pedestrian who was struck and killed has been identified, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Tuesday.

Robbie Lee Grimsley, 60, of West Columbia, was struck and killed by a motorist Aug. 31 around 2:40 am in the 1900 block of Platt Springs Road.

Grimsley was pronounced dead at the scene, Fisher said. The driver of the vehicle, who was not injured, stopped to render aid, she noted.

Deadly home invasion

The father of the child who was fatally shot during a home invasion plot in May has been charged in connection with drugs deputies found in the house.

Austin Graham Hanahan, 35, is charged with unlawful conduct to a child and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, according to arrest warrants.

“During the course of their investigation last spring, detectives determined Hanahan was selling and storing illegal narcotics at his home on Cedar Vale Court,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Investigators located several pounds of marijuana, thousands of dollars in cash and several guns hidden throughout the house.”

Hanahan turned himself in Sept. 3, according to Koon.

Hanahan spent much of the summer in a hospital receiving treatment for a gunshot wound he sustained during the home invasion plot.

“Hanahan exchanged gunfire that night with someone who we believe conspired with others to steal drugs and cash out of the house,” Koon said. “We’re still working to identity and locate that other person.”

Hanahan is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center while he awaits a bond hearing.

Shivers was reported missing after co-workers asked deputies to look for him at his house in the 200 block of Carriage Hill Court.

Deputies discovered the body of Roselynn W. Cede-no, 45, in Shivers’s home Sept. 3, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher. She had been shot multiple times.

Shivers is being held by authorities in Canada pending legal proceedings.

Senior United States District Judge Cameron Mc-Gowan Currie of Columbia imposed the sentence.

After 10 years, Watts will remain under court-ordered supervision for an additional 6 years.

There is no parole in the federal system.

Meth traffickers arrested

Richard Eugene Ford, 60, and, Cynthia Rooks, 51, are charged with trafficking meth and possessing a weapon during a violent crime, according to arrest warrants.

“Ford and Rooks distributed more than 1,000 grams during an operation that included agents from the Lexington County Narcotics Enforcement Team and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.

The narcotics operation last month netted 2 arrests, prompting agents to search a home and a storage unit.

“The encounter with Ford and Rooks led agents to obtain a search warrant for a Jakes Landing Road home and a storage unit on North Lake Drive.”

Both Ford and Rooks were found to be in possession of more than 3,000 grams of meth as agents searched the locations, according to Koon.

“Agents also recovered a number of guns from the home and storage unit,” Koon said.

Ford and Rooks are being held in the Lexington County Detention Center.
