Rep. Joe Wilson tests positive for covid

Congressman Joe Wilson of Springdale on Wednesday announced he tested positive for covid-19.

“I will be taking all necessary precautions, as directed by the House Physician, including quarantining through the Christmas holiday,” Wilson said in a statement Wednesday.

Wilson said he feels fine and does not have any symptoms. He also stressed the importance of taking the necessary steps to slow the spread of the virus.

13 years for heroin sales

William Chad Marino, 50, was found guilty of distribution of heroin 3rd offense.

Chief Administrative Judge Frank R. Addy, Jr., presided over the trial of this case Nov. 19 in Lexington County General Sessions Court.

The judge imposed a sentence under seal because Marino failed to appear for trial.

Marino turned himself in to the Lexington County Detention Center Dec. 14.

The sentence was unsealed, and Marino received a 25 year sentence suspended to 13 years of active prison time followed by 4 years of probation.

Under South Carolina law, this conviction is classified as a serious offense.

Marino has prior convictions for drugs and property crimes. He will be transported to the SC Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.

Chapin police seek armed robber

Chapin police reported an armed robbery at the Food Lion on Amicks Ferry Road around 6 pm last Thursday.

The subject fled the scene in a white SUV or minivan.

He appears to be a white male of slender build, wearing black pants, a black jacket, a light pink or white collared shirt, and a blue and white baseball cap.

Officers said the subject is considered armed and dangerous.

Nearby community members were advised he has not yet been located.
