Posted

Two teams from Lexington County captured state titles on Saturday during the South Carolina High School League competitive cheer championships at Columbia's Colonial Life Arena Nov. 18.

Chapin secured the 5A state title, finishing just ahead of fellow region foes Lexington and River Buff. Gray Collegiate won the 2A championship to earn its second state title in a row.

Gray Collegiate won its second 2A state title by 12.5 points, a much more definitive victory than last year’s. In 2022, Gray and Chesnee tied at 285.5 points before the War Eagles claimed victory in the tiebreaker round.

Pelion finished in ninth place and Batesburg-Leesville finished 12th in the 2A competition. Gilbert finished seventh in 3A. Airport finished 11th and Irmo finished 14th in 4A.
