We are saddened to report the 4th of July Peach Festival has been cancelled.

For 25 years we have covered the festival. It is a big day for Gilbert. Thousands come to our little town. It was a difficult decision the Gilbert Community Club.

The announcement was posted on the Gilbert Community Club and Lexington County Peach Festival Facebook pages. The community club thanked everyone for their understanding and support.

The club started the Peach Festival in the 1950s. Proceeds support community club projects, Gilbert Community Park, scholarships to student volunteers and other community civic organizations.

This family-oriented event begins with a parade followed by entertainment, barbecue, crafts, peach ice cream and more.

8 GILBERT MIDDLE School students were chosen for the SC ACDA Middle School Allstate Chorus. Congratulations to Caroline Beasley, Cassidy Craps, Matthew Dawson, Riley Garrell, Caedyn Hooker, Wilson Oxner, Kaydence Sulier and Reese Ward.

MANY PAINTED ROCKS with encouraging words have been hidden in our Gilbert Community Park. Some have Bible verses on them and others celebrate our heroes, nurses, doctors and EMS workers. It is like planting seeds of encouragement and making a difference. Happy rock hunting, please share with others if you find one.
