Dec. 11 was full of events in Lexington County.
The Town of Gaston held its Christmas Parade that morning, and that night, the Pelion Parade of Lights rolled out its sparkling procession.
In Lexington, authors Ralph E. Jarrells, Kathy Widener and Jerry Bellune were among the 22 local writers who signed and sold books at the Authors For Literacy fundraiser at the main branch of the Lexington County Public Library. The event, co-sponsored by The Lexington County Chronicle and The Fish Wrapper, brought in more than $700, with proceeds going to Turning Pages, a Columbia-based nonprofit aimed at teaching illiterate adults to read, write and foster other career-building skills.
