Gilbert was bustling once again on July 4, as it hosted the 63rd annual Lexington County Peach Festival. The festivities included a car show, arts and craft vendors, live music (including Carly Rikard), a Peach Parade and a nighttime fireworks display. Among those riding in the parade were the festival’s Peach Queens along with public officials such as Rep. Joe Wilson, state Attorney General Alan Wilson and Sen. Lindsey Graham. Sharing the role of grand marshal for the parade were Gilbert Dixie Youth Baseball's Rookie Ball All Stars, District 4 champions and Rookie Ball state champions for 2023. In addition to thousands of fresh peaches, the tasty treats on offer included peach ice cream and peach slushies.
