The Irmo Yellow Jackets made an emphatic statement Sept. 15 after their 35-21 win over previously unbeaten and second ranked Hartsville Red Foxes.
Irmo led by as many as 21 when Donovan Murph caught a touchdown pass from A.J. Brand to push the lead to 28-7. Hartsville matched with a touchdown but Irmo went back up three scores after running back Jaden Allen-Hendrix punched in his fourth rushing touchdown of the night to push the lead to 35-14.
Hartsville scored one more time and made things interesting after recovering the onside kick. However, the Irmo defense held firm and kept the Red Foxes off the scoreboard and secured the 14-point victory and handed them their first loss of the season.
